Proper Editing on an Amateur Skateboard Video

Originally titled "Flatbank skateboarding in 13 seconds" the video was renamed to "the right way to edit an amateur skateboard video."

In what ways does this video demonstrate proper editing techniques? Well, let me first point out the problem with many home grown skateboard video clips. The trick to time ratio is very low. That means that you get to see a trick, but that is surrounded by a good amount of riding into and out of the trick. The other issue is that many times these home made videos only show one trick. The is fine for a pro pulling a majorly awesome skate trick, but if it is a weak ollie or something, then it does not justify its own clip. If it is your first ollie or something, then save it on your computer to show your kids or something, don't post it online. The video above does it right. It cuts this sucker right down to the bone. Some solid tricks, no fluff. Just some nice skateboarding recorded with steady camera work. Sorry to hate on the beginners, but spend your time getting better at skateboarding instead of trying to make videos.
